Semi-Formal. We’re pretty casual but would still love you to dress for the occasion. Cocktail dresses, jumpsuits, pantsuits, and dressy separates are perfect. Classic suits or chino pants and a blazer are all fine. Ties are not a necessity. The entirety of the wedding will be indoors.

We want you to know that it is your presence, not your presents that we value. However, if you would generously like to gift us something, we will have a wishing well available on the day which will go towards our future together.

Melbourne CBD or Docklands will be your best places to search for accommodation so that you are close to public transport. See below for a few recommendations.

Gather & Tailor is located only 5km from Melbourne's CBD.
Train: From the CBD, catch the Sunbury, Werribee or Williamstown trains and get off at Footscray Station. Gather and Tailor is a 10-15 minute or 1km walk from here.
Ride Share: Ubers and taxis are easy to book or catch in and around Melbourne’s CDB.
Driving: There is easy direct access via Citylink. Ample off-street parking is available in the 41-59 Sims Street industrial lot. Unrestricted parking is also available on Sims Street with a short stroll down the driveway to the venue.

We love our big extended families, we really do. However, due to our tight budget, we can’t possibly invite everyone, therefore we have decided to make our wedding an adults-only celebration. Infants under 12 months are the only exception. We hope you understand.

Unfortunately, plus ones are not accounted for in our budget so please don’t assume unless we have discussed this with you directly. We appreciate your understanding.

We are planning an unplugged ceremony. We have hired an amazing photographer to capture our day so we invite you to put your devices away and be fully present. You’re welcome to take photos throughout the reception, though we will ask that you refrain from sharing anything on social media.

It was fate
APRIL 2018
We met through a mutual friend at a high school house party and there was an instant connection we couldn’t ignore. We ended up talking into the early hours of the morning about books and pop culture, ignoring everyone else at the party.

2018
Wasting no time, we met up the next day. We drank bad coffee, hung out at the local bookstore, and ate burgers. Being a young lesbian couple in a small, country town was not easy, but for the next 8 months, we were inseparable, until…

Long distance
2019
Clara moved to Melbourne for university leaving Kate behind to finish her final year of VCE. This meant our relationship became long-distance and saw us take many weekend trips on the VLine whilst studying and working. It wasn’t easy, but we were committed.

Together again
JANUARY 2020
Kate moved to Melbourne for university and we moved into a cute townhouse in Kensington together. We were so excited to finally be together again! Little did we know at the time, our relationship would go from surviving long distance to surviving COVID lockdowns!

Pandemic
2020-2022
The next few years saw us both studying online in our two-bedroom apartment, trying to hold onto our casual jobs, keeping in touch with family and friends via FaceTime, doing a lot of puzzles, reading book after book after book, and baking our way to caramel slice success.

NZ adventure
FEBRUARY 2023
With pent-up wanderlust after 2 years of lockdowns, and to celebrate graduating uni we booked a holiday to backpack around New Zealand for 2 weeks. It was the most incredible adventure and the perfect way to let loose. It’s also how we met Nicolle who is part of our wedding party!

The proposal
JUNE 2023
On a rainy Friday night, we were at home binging our favourite TV show while eating our favourite takeaway. Clara said something that made Kate crack up and in that moment, completely happy and content Kate asked Clara to marry her and she said yes! It was perfect.

Clementine
SEPTEMBER 2023
We fell in love with a tiny kitten that one of our friends was fostering and decided it was time to become a family of 3. We adopted her, named Clementine and we are all settling in together nicely.
MEET THE WEDDING PARTY
Introducing some of the special people playing a part in our day. You might chat to some of them in the lead up so we thought we would help you put faces to names.

Kate’s older sister and one of the kindest individuals you will meet. Kate and Carly were always fighting as kids, but are now really close despite living at opposite ends of the country. Carly is an excellent photographer and took all our photos for this website, but on the wedding day you’ll find her on the dance floor with a drink in her hand.

Clara and Kate met Nicolle while on a backpacking trip around New Zealand and they all became fast friends. As it turned out she was also from Melbourne and we could all hang out when we got back too, we even started a book club! Nicole is an event manager, hockey player and loves a good dance, so you’ll find her rushing speeches on the night to get the party started!

Clara’s little brother and all round excellent human being. Jeremy is studying environmental science and is equally passionate about climate change, soccer, and his daily yoga practice. He has a super dry sense of humour which you will discover on the day since he has agreed to be the MC!

Cate with a C has been Kate’s best friend since primary school. They have been through all of life’s big milestones together so she was an obvious choice for our wedding party. Cate is a teacher and one of the most extroverted individuals we know, you will have no trouble getting to know her before or on the day!
